At Community, we know that living God's radical, inclusive, real love begins at birth and grows through opportunities to both experience and practice that love. We also believe that family is the primary source of faith development for children and youth. Our church supports, provides resources and encourages families to teach children and youth about God's love and grace in this world. We help parents “parent in the pews” during worship and provide age appropriate materials so families can grow in their faith practices at home.

community youth

Community's youth group is comprised of middle and high school students from all over the KC metro. Consistent with the mission and progressive theology of Community, youth are encouraged to bring their questions and their whole selves with them to youth group. The youth begin the 9 AM Exploration Hour in Centennial Hall with our Intergenerational Gathering and then split off to their Youth space for more discussion and activities.

Throughout the year, the youth share in service projects, summer mission trips, and other fantastic excursions. All trips and activities can be found on the church calendar!

community kids

Children 3 years old through 4th grades begin the 9 AM Exploration Hour in Centennial Hall with our Intergenerational Gathering and then split off to their Children's space for more activities, crafts and fun. During Sunday worship, Community kids each have a worship bag filled with worship worksheets, coloring pages and drawing supplies. Family events, outings and storytimes are planned throughout the year and can be found on the church calendar.

community Nursery

With experienced nursery staff and an extensive child safety policy, Community's Nursery accepts babies and toddlers up to 4 years old. Children begin worship with their families and after the Children's Moment are welcome to move with our dedicated staff to the nursery. Nursery is also available during Exploration Hour (9 AM).

Our Promises to You

  • Your child’s safety is our first priority. From check in to check out, every Community kids ministry team member has been thoroughly vetted and trained to ensure that your child has a safe and fun experience at Community.

  • We want you and your child to feel at home from your first visit! Community is committed to intergenerational worship and connection and fun group experience with leaders who love them and feel called to share the love of Jesus with kids. When kids have fun at church, they can’t wait to come back!

  • We want children to know deep in their bones that God loves them no matter what. At Community, we create experiences that build relationships and encourage each child to know God's radical, inclusive, real love. We strive to help our kids recognize their gifts and strength and we provide opportunities for our kids and youth to serve others with God's love.

  • We value partnering together as a team with you to help raise children of faith. We provide parents resources to help grow in faith as a family through each week as well as provide opportunities for all to engage the stories we are learning through family events.
